All counts from 10-40 are available at Brick City Cross Stitch, with increasing numbers of hand-dyed fabrics. Most of the hand-dyed fabrics carried at the shop are from Picture This Plus, Wichelt, Weeks Dye Works and Zweigart.

Picture This Plus fabric is the most popular hand-dyed fabric we carry. It is colorfast as chemicals to bind the dye to the fibers and stop the dyeing reaction are used. The fabric is then washed in a special detergent that removes loose dye and several of the fabrics are washed twice. If you must wash your piece after stitching rinse in cold water and do not let it soak.

Different fiber contents will take the dye differently, sometimes there is a wide variance in the color from 14 count Aida to the 32 count Belfast Linen. Aidas are woven from cotton threads, Linens are made from linen thread and the Evenweaves that are used by Picture This Plus are a combination of rayon and cotton.

It is recommended if you plan to stitch companion pieces on hand-dyed fabric, you purchase fabric for all pieces at the same time.
